堪萨斯大学公共管理硕士专业为学生提供以下两个方向进行学习，分别是：实习方向和就业方向。实习方向专为希望全日制攻读公共管理硕士学位的学生而设计。学生在夏季学期开始课程，并在三个学期（夏季，秋季，春季）内完成课程。项目的第二年，学生将进行全职实习。实习生方向专门面向希望在市级或县级地方政府就职的学生。职业方向面向那些可能已经在市、县、州或联邦政府、非营利组织工作的学生，以及其他想要边攻读公共管理硕士学位边工作的学生。将在秋季或春季开始课程。
