巴特勒大学成立于1855年，位于美国中西部的印第安纳州，环境优美，离印第安纳波利斯市区很近。巴特勒大学是一所综合性大学，学校的学术力量雄厚，多种课程供学生选择，学校毕业的许多硕士研究生都取得很好的成功，因此，巴特勒大学在美国获得良好的声誉。
巴特勒大学由一位名叫奥维德巴特勒的律师创建。最初建校时学校名为西北基督教大学。该校是印第安纳州最早接受男女合校的大学，也是印第安纳州第一所允许学生通过全新的电子系统进行专业选择的学校。学校的学术力量雄厚，在美国有良好的声誉，在中西部的大学中排名第6 。学校还因为其在文理科方面的杰出表现而受到National guides 的较高评价。巴特勒大学的旧校区现在是印第安纳波利斯发展最快的地区之一，新校区位于印第安纳波利斯的东部郊区，占地 290 英亩 ，有 20 幢校园建筑。学校有280 名全职教职员工，学生4400 余名，学校的师生比为1 ：13 。学校设施齐全，有超过100 个学生组织和团体。在校学生4000多名全日制学生,其中包括有来自50个国家的100多名国际学生。

（1）学士申请者必须高中毕业，TOEFL550分，雅思6.0以上。
（2）硕士申请者： TOEFL550分或雅思6.0以上。需要GRE/GMAT成绩，具体要求根据专业的不同有变化。例如申请教育学硕士，只有学生GPA低于3.0，才需提供GRE成绩。
(3)奖学金申请者必须提供一篇论文,无ESL.
